The project

From a large body of existing multi-omics, literature data and previous hypothesis-driven research conducted by members of the FIBROTARGETS consortium, a number of specific extracellular and intracellular targets have been identified whose involvement in MIF is beginning to be understood and that may be targeted by specific therapies.

The FIBROTARGETS work plan is designed to ensure four major achievements :

  1.  Provide further evidence on the selected MIF targets' mechanisms of action
  2. Validate experimentally that new anti-fibrotic strategies and matrix-quality improving therapies can be directed toward the selected MIF targets.
  3. Develop the potential clinical scenario of applying the above targets to HF therapy
  4. Use these MIF targets as biomarkers to monitor response to MIF treatment in HF patients.
